Looking forward to 2010 (and the World Cup): The African All Star Team is finally top.

Before 2009 happened, Jentilisa was already one of the best and most prolific blogger in Malagasy. (He was voted best blogger in Malagasy in 2007 and he is one of the jury for the 2009 Malagasy blog contest).
Jentilisa's "about page" states among other things: "Tia ary tsy leo miresaka politika." (I like and I am not tired of discussing politics). I admire that sentiment. It is easy to dismiss political discussion on the ground that "all politicians are rotten" and often objectivity get lost at the expense of a much-needed constructive debate. Many others have contributed to explain the Malagasy crisis and Jentilisa is certainly one of the most clear, open writer on these issues.

Before 2009, Jentilisa wrote about politics too but he also wrote about many other things, among them football.

I enjoyed his take on politics but I miss his riff on football (Heck, I miss a lot of things prior 2009). So in hope that in 2010, the crisis would finally clear out and that I get to read about the less-critical-and-yet-so-important mundane events, here is my take on the reason why, for the first time, I am ready to say that the African continent can assemble the best team amongst all the other continents, just in time for the World Cup:

Since a picture is worth a thousand words, here is my team with two added notes:

- No two countrymen or more on my team
- I try to go by everyone's current positions on the field but took a few liberties as well.

Now try, try to pick the best team from any continent and tell me that they would beat this bunch. I tried and I could not. This team has almost all the best players at their respective positions but even if it does not, it has enough fire to fight off any other all star teams.

  1. I'm not really into football so I can't tell much about teams :) But I always love to watch world Cup so I'm looking forward to it too (even though I know nothing ^^).

Happy New Year to you Lova !
