Voyage, voyage! "To travel is to discover that everyone is wrong about other countries." (Aldous Huxley)

"Celui qui ne voyage pas ne connaît pas la valeur des hommes."
(proverbe maure)

Alors ils sont partis: a bicyclette a travers l'Afrique; ou faire le tour du monde, et pourquoi pas apres tout ? Ils, c'est Cecile et Arnault qui sont en ce moment entre le Senegal et le Mali.

Ils, c'est Florence et Gil, en ce moment precis au Perou, demain au Nepal ou ailleurs.

Ils ne sont pas les seuls bien sur, mais ils font partie de cette espece rare qui ont fait de cette phrase de Maya Angelou un mode de vie: " Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry, but by demonstrating that all peoples cry, laugh, eat, worry, and die, it can introduce the idea that if we try and understand each other, we may even become friends.”
Le monde est bien petit. 4 ans de cela, nous partagions des beignets a "cafe du Monde" et maintenant vous voila au 4 coins du monde. Bonne route et n'oubliez pas que vous emmenez un petit peu de nous tous dans vos baggages :)

(over the raibow /what a wonderful world by c.Coleman)

"He who doesn't travel does not know a man's worth" (Mores proverb)
And So they left. To travel across Africa by bike. or to travel around the whole world and why not ? They are Cecile and Arnault now between Senegal and Mali. They are also Florence and Gil, now in Peru, tomorrow in Nepal or somewhere else. They are surely not alone in undertaking this kind of endeveaor but they belong to this rare category of people who live by the words of Maya Angelou: “Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry, but by demonstrating that all peoples cry, laugh, eat, worry, and die, it can introduce the idea that if we try and understand each other, we may even become friends.”
It's a small world after all. 4 years ago, we shared beignets at "Cafe du monde" and now you are scattered at the 4 corners of the world. Carry on, travelers ! Know that you are taking a piece of all of us in your luggages ;).
Although it may not look like it, I am a close relative of one of them 4. Care to guess which one ? ;)

  4. Yes I know whenever I'm in a new country eventually they'll do some crazy stuff and I find myself pulling an Obelix and going, "These *blank*ans are crazy."

  5. > Mosi, I love the "Asterix and the black Gold" scene where they get attacked by a bunch of tribes in succession because they are mistaken for people they are not. And Obelix goes "these....are crazy". ;)
